The Auditorium, also known as The Opera House, was the site of many early road shows, dances, and minstrel shows. One of the many famous people to perform there was Buffalo Bill Cody (Buffalo Bill, or William F. Cody, was a U.S. Army Scout in the Indian Wars and an expert buffalo hunter). In addition, the Opera House was used to view "moving pictures"; the last time it was used as a movie theater was in 1908. It had specific local uses as well; Greeneville parents would also watch their children cross the stage for school graduations.

Although it stands
empty and deserted today, The Opera House was a popular place to be with its beautiful
lights brightening up the streets, with its music, and with the many people
coming to enjoy a show.
